A club sport is a registered student organization formed by individuals with a common interest in an athletic activity. They exist to promote and develop that interest. The most important principle of club sports is that they are student organizations, derived and sustained through the leadership and interest of the students. Club sports may be competitive or recreational in nature and require on-site or off-site facilities and equipment. All club sports must be officially recognized by OC Student Life, Athletics, and the Club Sports Council. In addition, all club activities should be conducted in compliance with Oberlin College rules and regulations. If at any time an organization feels that it is being denied access to benefits available to club sports, it can appeal to the Club Sports Council for recognition as a club sport.
There are approximately 14 different club sports, although the exact number of organizations ebbs and flows from year to year according to student interest. These organizations range from high-contact, team sports, to sports for individuals. The following is a complete list of current Club Sports:
