The Preying Manti - Women's Ultimate Team

Ultimate Frisbee has been active at Oberlin since 1976 when a co-ed team played their first intercollegiate game against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The women's team, the Preying Manti, has been active since the 1990s and was chartered as a student organization in 1996. In 1997, the Manti qualified for Nationals.

The Preying Manti are a part of the Great Lakes region and East Plains section of the Ultimate Players Association (UPA) College Division (www.upa.org).

Currently, the Preying Manti have over 20 players who practice and compete in several tournaments during the fall and spring season. During the Fall 2007 season, Manti co-hosted a home tournament during the fall with the men's team, the Flying Horsecows. Over 20 teams came from around the Midwest and Northeast to play competitive ultimate at Oberlin for the two-day tournament titled Force Freedom. In the Fall 2007, the Preying Manti also sponsored an Exco which will return next fall.
