About Margaret

Hi there! I'm a third-year studying biology and anthropology from Reading, MA. Around campus, I enjoy performing with student dance groups, cooking in co-ops, and participating in local food advocacy. I am passionate about creating sustainable and equitable food systems and protecting the world's endangered ecosystems and wildlife. Until I graduate, I am focusing on reducing my own environmental impact by living simply and reducing my consumption of resources and on educating my peers about sustainable living.

I am thrilled to be living in SEED House this year. After living in Burton's Sustainability Hall during my sophomore year, I decided that I wanted to experiment with sustainable living practices outside of the dormitory setting, where I can develop holistic habits that can be applicable to my life after graduation. Right here at SEED House we can grow vegetables, make them into meals, and compost the scraps. We can experiment with techniques to save energy and water, and share our experiences with the Oberlin community. And if I get a little dirty in the process, I promise to take cold, military-style showers before heading to class!
