Today I did something that I can safely say most Oberlin students do not do: I shaved my legs.
Now, I usually let my leg hair grow. I don't love having hairy legs, but I do it in the name of feminism and subverting gender norms (and being lazy). I also can't justify all the water I waste when I run the shower to clean the razor.
Well, today I decided that I wanted smooth legs for shorts season, and I came up with a brilliant (though probably unoriginal) solution to the wasting water problem: I filled up a plastic bowl to clean the razor! Not only did it save water, but it was more effective than running water.
When I was done I didn't want to pour the hair down the drain, so I drained the bowl outside. Since it had some soap in it, I poured it over the weeds in our gravel driveway. VoilĂ - a little grooming and lawn care all in one night!
