A Silly Q+A with the cast of Die Fledermaus! (Written by Emily Peragine '14)
››› March 6, 2013 | Posted By Daniel McGrew

Opening Night for Oberlin Opera Theater's production of Die Fledermaus is exactly one week from today! Stop by Hall Auditorium and grab your tickets before they're sold out!

The cast is in full-swing rehearsal mode, working out the final kinks and logistics of the production. I stopped in last night's Friday Cast run to snap some photos of the stage, cast, and ask a couple of goofy questions.

Here is some of the cast, answering my ridiculous, albeit necessary... character development questions. Enjoy!

Q+A with Joshua:

Q: Who is your character?
A: Eisenstein

Q: What is your character's patronus?
A: A black bear

Q: Sum up your character's personality in three descriptive adjectives.
A: Angry, pompous, horny...

Q: If your character was a dessert, what would he/she be?
A: Meringue Cookies, look delicious on the outside but are really just full of air.

Q: How does your character feel being invited to a seedy establishment?
A: It's my kind of party, a place I can thrive and be on the hunt for pretty women.

Q: Your character has found a stowaway critter in their bag or vehicle/ship; what do they do/ what kind of critter?
A: It's a snake, his name is Bo-jenkins and I wear him around like a necklace because I hear the wilder women love adventurous men with a soft side for animals.

Q: What color best describes your character?
A: Red

Q: Lastly, since this opera is filled with substance abuse, what is your character's favorite alcoholic beverage?
A: I don't think he cares. He just likes to drink, but if I had to pick it would probably be an Old Fashioned. Classy, but a few can still do you in pretty well.

Q+A with Meryl Dominguez

Q: Who is your character?
A: I play Rosalinda, Eisenstein's wife.

Q: What is your character's patronus?
A: Hmm... maybe a large cat or something, a bobcat or jaguar?

Q: Sum up your character's personality in 3 descriptive adjectives.
A: Strong, Curious, Bored

Q: If your character was a dessert, what would he/she be?
A: Millefeuille. It's a pastry with crispy wafers, cream, and fruit layers. It is delicious and pretty, but it has some crunch.

Q: How does your character feel being invited to a seedy establishment?
A: She would definitely complain and make a scene, but ultimately she likes new situations and I feel she would go a little crazy.

Q: Your character has found a stowaway critter in their bag or vehicle/ship; what do they do/ what kind of critter?
A: She would freak out and make Adele kill the bug. However strong she is, she is still a kept woman of sorts. I don't think she would kill a mouse or something bigger, but she would still make Adele handle it.

Q: What color best describes your character?
A: Dark purple

Q: Lastly, since this opera is filled with substance abuse, what is your character's favorite alcoholic beverage?
A: Champagne, all the way.

Q: How does your character feel being invited to a seedy establishment?
A: Ecstatic! She's sure to mee the "artsy" types there.

Q: Your character has found a stowaway critter in their bag or vehicle/ship; what do they do/ what kind of critter?
A: Adele hates critters -- at the Eisenstein's she spends a fair amount of energy trapping mice and stomping bugs, and they still make her squirm.

Q: What color best describes your character?
A: Purple, one shade short of Royal.

Q: Lastly, since this opera is filled with substance abuse, what is your character's favorite alcoholic beverage?
A: Tequila shots.

A: Filthy...

Q: Your character has found a stowaway critter in their bag or vehicle/ship; what do they do/ what kind of critter?

Q: Your character has found a stowaway critter in their bag or vehicle/ship; what do they do/ what kind of critter?
A: Falke takes care of the critter and makes sure it is reintroduced to its proper environment and makes sure it is fed and cozy if it is friendly.
