Back Down the Rabbit Hole: Looking back on Mozart's La finta giardiniera
››› April 27, 2015 | Posted By Daniel McGrew

Oberlin opera theater's spring production of Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera was full of zany surprises, wonderful music, and terrific performances. Listen here to an interview with director Jonathan Field on WCLV's Ideasteam in which he discusses his unusual concept for the piece, rabbits and all.

Soprano, Rebecca Achtenberg as VIOLANTE.

"Cool Cleveland" spoke with Field and conductor, Raphael Jimenez, about young Mozart, working with Oberlin students, and making sense of such an outrageous libretto, also... yes, rabbits. Watch the interview here.

Baritone, Andrew Groble as NARDO.

To see more photos from the production, here's a "Backstage Pass," and while you're there, be sure to like the Oberlin Conservatory Facebook page! You can read a complete review of Oberlin Opera Theater's La finta giardiniera here. And as always, rabbits.

Mezzo-soprano, Elana Bell as RAMIRO and soprano, Annie Zara as ARMINDA.
