Oberlin Conservatory West Coast Tour Blog

Reflecting...

Hi,

Just wanted to write a follow-up blog to the wonderful trip and concert that we gave in LA... so...

Wow. What a time. Playing in Disney hall was so amazing, as was working with Huang Ruo and Angela Cheng. They're both such amazing musicians, and so nice! It's really experiences like this that make me so happy to be a musician.

The concert was so much fun, cell phone interruptions notwithstanding. Getting to play in that hall was just incredible. It's true what they say - you really CAN hear everything, even someone unwrapping a mint in the highest balcony. That being said,
making orchestral music into chamber music was so easy there... you could hear everyone in the orchestra. At times I heard stuff coming from the winds and brass that I'd never heard before!

It was also so much fun to hang out with everyone in LA... it's so great to get to know people better. You know, you see some people every day, but you don't really know them well. I think I made some great friends on this tour, and I'm really thankful for that. :-)
