Oberlin 2020:
Learning, Leadership, and Community in a Pandemic

Illustration of Oberlin's iconic Reading Girl statue wearing a covid mask.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced institutions around the world into profound struggles and critical decisions. We felt compelled to capture for the archives the story of how Oberlin's leadership team served the college during this once-in-a-century pandemic. This narrative provides a perspective into the leadership team’s thoughts, doubts, and decision making. I am proud of how Oberlin’s leadership grew as a team and performed in ways that will serve Oberlin well into the future.

Special thanks to Chief of Staff David Hertz for the many hours he spent collecting these reflections and data from colleagues and masterfully turning them into a fun and exciting page-turner.
