Leann Dameron
Leann started a project called Screen to Table, combining her interests in cooking and cinema. After screening movies in the food film genre, Leann researched recipes that appear on screen, and cooking dishes inspired by the movies -- recreating meals from Tortilla Soup, Big Night, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Dinner Rush. In addition, Leann blogged about the project with photos, recipes, and writing about the meaning of food in films. In her research, Leann found an academic component to the project, discovering several cinema professors from around the country who have written about the genre. She explored the role that food has historically played in film, and how that has changed in the last 20 years, as 'foodie films' have become more popular.
